Responsibilities :
The Campus Librarian & Assistant Registrar's core responsibility is to provide information services and training to Schiller International University's faculty, staff, and students, with a particular focus on information literacy training. This encompasses delivering reference services, conducting bibliographic and electronic instruction, and actively promoting library services and resources. The library's operations are intricately linked with the institution's mission and educational programs, emphasizing the importance of information literacy throughout the university community.
Library
• Plans and supervises Campus Library operations.
• Maintains the organization of the library facility and performs other relevant duties as assigned.
• Promotes library resources, services, programs, and workshops to all patrons.
• Provides reference services by ascertaining information needs, demonstrating the use of print and digital media, and referring patrons to other libraries or interlibrary loan opportunities via in-person, telephone, e-mail, and chat inquiries.
• Promotes Information literacy skills among the student body.
• Collects and disseminates library metrics, including circulation and interlibrary loan statistics, student satisfaction data, and acquisition requests.
• Develops handouts, user guides and other library services documents.
• Enforces library policies regarding collection use, misuse, acquisition, library services, inter-library loan, etc.
• Facilitates requests for ancillary resources from faculty.
• Coordinates prior agreed annual membership subscriptions (renewal) of selected journals.
• Serves as a library liaison to all programs and their director, instructors, and students.
• Works with other librarians across all Schiller International University campuses to collaborate and share resources on a global scale.
• Develops collaborative relationships with faculty, other university employees, and management.
• Supports students and faculty with regards to ad-hoc Blackboard and other learning platforms.
• Participates in departmental, campus, college, and in-service meetings.
• Creates a positive image in the community for the campus.
• Performs any other duties or special projects as assigned.
Registry
• Assists with preparing student letters in French.
• Supports students with in-person inquiries and requests, such as changes courses, requests to move online, applications for leaves of absence (LOA), and scheduling concerns.
• Helps resolve student issues related to their courses, usually scheduling or assessment conflicts.
• Records and posts attendance, follows up with students and sends official warnings.
• Assists with grade posting and verification (ensuring accuracy after automation).
• Supports registration clearance and course registration.
• Participates in regular meetings with the Campus Director and other relevant staff members.
Skills :
Experience in an academic library and SIS is preferred.
• Library experience should include familiarity with and experience in reference and bibliographic instruction.
• Working knowledge of common academic databases and library management software.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and common Internet search engines.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong organization and time management skills.
Ability to draft official documents in French
Qualifications :
Minimum qualification is a Bachelor’s degree ideally in Library and Information Science.
• Master’s degree in library science is preferred.
Other :
Bilingual French/English candidates preferred.
Familiarity with French administration and procedures
Conditions :
FT permanent onsite position with minimal travel.
