Founded in 1981, Paris College of Art (PCA) is a private university in Paris, France. The university is a US degree granting institution of higher learning and is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). PCAs mission is to provide the highest standard of art and design education, taught within an American pedagogical paradigm, while being influenced and informed by our French and European environment. Our international faculty is comprised of 100 leaders in the art, design, and business industries in Europe and courses are taught in English. PCA offers an interdisciplinary education for students coming from 50 different countries, and awards Bachelors (BFA), and Masters (MA and MFA) degrees as well as study abroad, certificate, and summer programs. Position Overview

 

Paris College of Art is committed to helping students from all over the world find academic and personal success. All positions in the Student Life office share the responsibility for creating a campus community that values diversity, inclusion and the uniqueness of others by modeling integrity, care, compassion and respect during interactions.  Student Life Counselors are responsible for providing support to students in their adaptation to life in Paris as well as defining strategies to increase student retention and overall student experience and participate in Student Retention Committee.

 

General Responsibilities

 

Student Support for Housing and Administration

 

·         Solicit and establish partnerships with organizations, banks, housing agencies, etc. to achieve long-term goals and better serve students’ needs

·         Inform, advise and assist students in the process of obtaining student visas and carte de séjour

·         Assist students with French administration issues: applying for CAF, establishing and cancelling phone and utilities services, etc.

·         Research housing options for students, inform students about available housing and provide assistance in establishing a lease

·         Organize and keep records of student health insurance data, distribution of insurance cards and correspondence with insurance provider

·         Enter and manage student data

 

Extra-curricular Student Activities

 

·         Develop and administer student activities as well as supervise Student Council, assisting them in their initiatives, events, and budget administration.

·         Coordinate Paris Inside/Out series of visits each semester, assign facilitators or chaperones, take attendance and enter grade (pass / fail)

 

Career Services & Alumni Relations

·         Organize skill-building workshops once / semester

·         Seek out internship opportunities and promote to our students and alumni, issue « convention de stage »

·         Track alumni addresses and career progression by conducting regular surveys of graduating students, alumni and employers

·         Maintain the LinkedIn alumni page

Other

 

·         Participate in the organization and administration of on-campus events such as bi-annual Orientations and Open Houses

Qualifications

 

·         French and English fluency

·         Excellent communication skills

·         Knowledge of American educational culture as well as an understanding of the challenges facing international students in Paris

·         1-2 years’ experience working in higher education administration a plus.

·         Strong knowledge of the city of Paris and its resources for students

·         Solid computer skills including experience with Pack Office

·         Good organizational skills and ability to multi-task

·         Ability to motivate and inspire students

·         Ability to work a flexible schedule and achieve results in a fast-paced environment.
