Responsibilities
Based at ACM's U.S. Office in San Diego, CA and reporting directly to the President, the VPFA will provide leadership and oversight of ACM’s daily and strategic operations. The VPFA will work in partnership with the President to define and deliver academic and administrative excellence for ACM. They will provide management leadership that develops and effectively delivers ACM services in alignment with the strategic vision established by the President and Board of Trustees. The VPFA will be responsible for overseeing the effective execution of ACM’s financial, personnel, logistic, and academic operations as well as the effective oversight of the financial and human resources of ACM. The VPFA will be charged with developing and implementing policies and procedures in a coordinated, integrated, and sustainable manner across multiple functions, including operations, finance, IT, human resources, and administration in alignment with the strategic vision of ACM. They will coordinate the management team in the U.S. with the other administrative leaders abroad and manage a team of professionals and leaders with the goal of providing outstanding student education and outcomes; academic and financial sustainability; and productive engagement with a wide range of local, national, and international partners. The VPFA will provide the day-to-day leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure the effective growth of the organization, financial strength, and operating efficiency. The VPFA will coordinate human resources via effective internal communication to ensure the internal health of the ACM workplace. They will maintain and enhance the ongoing quality, safety, and upkeep of ACM’s facilities. The VPFA will always endeavor to empower the operational team in all locations with the leadership and resources needed to fulfill ACM’s vision of changing the face of international higher education. The VPFA will develop and implement policies that advance the culture and vision of ACM. The VPFA must positively represent ACM in the community and in the media and must maintain the highest level of integrity and lead by example in all areas. Specific duties tied to the position include:

  • Implementation of financial and student information systems

Skills :

The candidate will have an outstanding track record of achievement in strategic and operational management in a university or similarly complex organization in either the public or private sector. The successful candidate will have a capacity for innovative thinking; a proven aptitude for teamwork; excellent interpersonal skills; strong written, oral, and public speaking communication skills in English with a preference for an individual with some proficiency in French or Spanish; a nuanced appreciation of the French/Spanish and American cultures, particularly their higher education systems; and a demonstrated commitment to international education. The successful candidate must show a demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a cross-cultural and diverse environment, with the ability to be inclusive and respectful of differences. Experience working in the Mediterranean region is a plus. The candidate will mostly reside and work in the U.S. Office in San Diego, California with regular travel to the main campus in France and satellite campuses in Spain and Morocco. 

Qualifications :

Employment: A minimum of five years of successful experience in senior-level management positions.
Education: A PhD, MBA, JD or equivalent degree in Finance, Higher Education Administration, Tax Law, or International Relations is preferred.

Search Timeline
While applications will be accepted for consideration until the position is filled, the current timeline calls for formal screening of applications to occur in the second half of May through early June 2022. Therefore, full consideration is best assured when submitting applications by May 20, 2022. Semifinalists will be selected for a formal interview, and it is hoped that a formal offer can be made by the end of June, with the successful candidate assuming full responsibility by August 1, 2022.

Conditions :

The VPFA will be on a U.S. contract. Salary is commensurate with experience. ACM offers a very competitive compensation package.
