Working in the Office of Student Life and reporting to the Dean of Students, the overall function is to participate in and assist students, together with the Student Life Staff, to get set up in their student lodging, whether with local host families or in student residence apartments; to help students adapt to life in France; and to participate in and help organize student cultural activities designed to guide international students in adapting to living in France.

 

Position availability : July 15 - August 1

Responsibilities :

Student Housing - 65%

       Overseeing and managing housing for ACM-IAU students, including

o      Recruiting local host families

o      Scouting student residence apartments

o      Placing students in housing assignments before their arrival

o      Guiding students with local host families

o      Helping students to get set up in independent apartments

o      Helping students to adjust to living with French hosts

o      Mediation with local hosts or with apartment issues

Administrative oversight - 20%

       Preparation and updating of program documentation concerning security, life in France, and student dossiers

       Daily interaction and responsiveness to students (including support for health issues)

       Assisting program directors according to need (reports, events, inventory)

       Other tasks as assigned

 

Together with colleagues, implement and oversee cultural programming for student life - 15%

       Participate in excursions with students (2-3 per semester)

       Organize outings in Aix and in-house events: cultural activities of the local community, evening gatherings.

       Help students in the practical aspects of their life: safety tips, telephone, bus passes, doctor visits, etc.

Participate in student orientation (presenting to students skills on living in a French home, nightlife, adjusting to daily life in France) 

Skills :

Interpersonal and negotiating skills, good communication and mediation.

Qualifications :

•       Licence, B.A. or the equivalent

•       Fluent in French and English

•       Experience working with students

•       Familiarity with the American university setting a plus

•       Excellent interpersonal communication skills

•       Able to work with diverse groups

•       Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks

•       Dynamic, team-player with a deep knowledge of France

•       Computer and internet skills (Microsoft Office tools, Word, Excel, Power Point, social media)

Other :

Conditions :

•       Full-time, 35 hours/week

•       Possibility of working on some weekends (excursions) and in the evening (cultural events)

•       Occasional weekend on call

•       Must be authorized to work in France

        Trial six-month contract (CDD) with possibility of CDI

•       Start date: September 2026

 

Approximte Annual Gross Salary

35,000 euros
